Our daughter Glynis won a weekend at a wonderful house in the Poconos that we used Valentines weekend. We were there Feb13-16 and had lots of fun. Saturday we skied at Jack Frost and Sunday at Blue Mountain. Kay had a great day playing with Pierce Saturday while the rest of the gang skied...or waited in lift lines. Here are some pictures of our mini adventure.

Street Dancers in the Park, Buenos Aires

While venturing through the park, we came upon a couple of street dancers. She was very beautiful and he was quite a bit older. After a couple of dances, she passed the hat for a well deserved tip.

La Boca Section of Buenos Aires

La Boca is one of Buenos Aires' most colorful districts. Italian immigrants were the first settlers of La Boca, and the working class neighborhood was Buenos Aires' first port. Today the buildings in the barrio are painted in bright colors. These buildings were painted with leftover paints from the ships in the harbor.

Many local artists were selling their wares, while others danced the tango for the many visitors.

Recoleta Cemetary & other sights of Buenos Aires

La Recoleta Cemetery is a famous cemetery located in the exclusive Recoleta neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The layout of the cemetery was designed by the French engineer Próspero Catelin, and was remodeled in 1881, while Torcuato de Alvear was mayor of the city, by the Italian architect Juan Antonio Buschiazzo.
The Cemetery includes graves of some of the most influential and important persons of Argentina, including several presidents, scientists, and wealthy characters. Internationally, Eva Perón is the best known person buried in this cemetery.

Basílica Nuestra Señora del Pilar: Junin 1892, Plaza Recoleta. It was built by the Jesuit monks in 1732 and it is one of the oldest churches in the city.

In the Plaza of the United Nations there stands one of the more unusual sculptures in Buenos Aires, the "Floralis Generica" by the architect Eduardo Catalano. It´s a gigantic metal flower, with 6 motorised 20 metre high petals that open on special occasions.-

I hope it is not a man eating flower. Run Bob, RUN!!!
